What is MONTIS?
MONTIS is a complete, drone-based system that enables avalanche management crews to initiate controlled avalanches from a safe distance. It utilizes secure electronic ignition to deliver precise airblasts, maximizing the concussive force on the snowpack.
We believe the best tools are built in the field, which is why we developed MONTIS in close collaboration with partners like the Alaska DOT to ensure it solves operational challenges.
How the System Works
Field Setup
Mount the MONTIS payload to the drone and load your standard charges. The system is designed for seamless integration so your crew can deploy rapidly.
Mission Planning
Open the D.A. FLIGHT app to map your operation. Plot your exact drop locations, set precise deployment altitudes, and set the MONTIS safety geofence before takeoff.
Precision Air Blast
The system navigates your programmed route to deliver charges with pinpoint accuracy. You keep total control—deploy automatically, or manually arm and trigger as conditions shift.
Safe Oversight
Use the visible/thermal camera to monitor operation in real-time from the ground. Ignite steep, complex terrain efficiently while keeping your crew out of hazardous environments.
Electronic Ignition & Airblasting
MONTIS utilizes secure electronic ignition, giving operators total, remote control, by allowing a charge to be completely disarmed mid-flight if conditions change.
MONTIS is engineered specifically for airblasting. Detonating the charge directly above the snowpack drives the concussive energy downward, triggering a wider, more consistent release than a surface-level blast.
